Licensing & privacy

SchematIaC is commercial software. A 14-day trial unlocks everything; after that a licence is required — canvases will not open without one, and your files are untouched either way.

The trial

Start it from the activation screen a canvas shows, or with SchematIaC: Start Free Trial in the command palette. Enter your email, then the 6-digit code from the email you receive; the trial key arrives by email too and is already active on the machine that requested it. A trial key is bound to that machine.

Licence keys

Buy at schematiac.com/pricing. Your key arrives by email; paste it once with SchematIaC: Enter Licence Key. Purchased keys are term keys and are not machine-bound. SchematIaC: Licence Status shows who is licensed and until when.

Keys are cryptographically signed and verified offline — there is no licence check-in, ever. Once activated, the extension needs no network at all.

What goes over the network

Stated plainly, because it is short:

  1. Starting a trial sends your email address and an anonymous installation digest to the licensing service, which emails you the 6-digit code.
  2. Verifying the code sends the same plus the code, and returns your key.

That is the complete list. No telemetry, no analytics, no licence check-in — and never any Terraform, at any point. The HCL engine is compiled to WebAssembly and runs inside VS Code; nothing you open on a canvas is uploaded anywhere.

Teams

Team licences cover a number of seats, assigned by email from the team management page linked in your purchase email. Each member gets their own key.
